Bukowski Painting- Early in the Sibley series

William Bukowski
Sibley with Purple Flowers
oil on linen   2005

I was pressing to get going on this painting and it was early in the series.  The flowers don't really come out until mid-July and this was in late June.  I like the handling of the paint and the way the viewer is invited into the painting.  For some reason I have developed a real affinity for mornings, summer, sun light and would prefer peak flowers.  I don't mean to be so limiting, but I enjoy these conditions working from life.

Bukowski Painting- Pathstone Commission Dedication

On April 6th, 2008, Sunday from 1-4:00 pm there will be a reception at Pathstone Living for the dedication of the Sibley Park Landscape Commission.  At 3:00 p.m. the chaplain will say a few words and then painter William Bukowski will speak.

The painting depicts the local park in July around 8:45 a.m.  The scale of the painting is 6' X 18' and it is painted on linen with oils.  The event is free and open to the public.
